Humans • Data • Technology

I love solving problems. Tough, complex, and challenging problems fascinate me to no end. I've always been fascinated with the interplay of humans and technology.

My interests: Data Engineering, Scalable WebApps, Customer Behavioral Science

For data enthusiasts I recommend this article heavily, its a must read, I keep revisiting this article for perspective on data engineering. It's simply awesome, talks so much about basics of DE.

In the past, I’ve worked on a variety of different projects, including remarketing engine, data management platform, recommendation engines, data pipeline for calculating ROI for display ads, event driven systems etc. You can read more about them below.

SegmentOne

Mumbai

Co-founded SegmentOne. Segmentone is an AI based customer engagement platform helping online businesses target each customer uniquely, allowing them to send RIGHT marketing message to the RIGHT customer at the RIGHT time via RIGHT channel.

Building B2B software is a different ballgame altogether. The complexities involved, the constrains, the stakeholders, the features, the functionalities, the technicalities, dozens of personas, and hundreds of use-cases – its mind boggling. But at the end, it's very rewarding when you think about users who pay to use your product for 8 hours a day, as a part of their job. I’m glad that I’ve gotten the opportunity to do so at SegmentOne.

I remember pulling all nighters, working for tens of hours at a stretch, working on some of the most ridiculous ideas. But the biggest pleasure was to build an event-driven system which required a simple approach to build a complex and scalable system. I also managed a team of 6 engineers, 1 data scientist, 1 designer, 3 sales people and 2 content writers.

Insight Data Science

New York

Insight Data Science is an intensive 7-week professional training fellowship designed to be your bridge to a career in data engineering and data science. Fellows in the program come from a variety of backgrounds: academia, business intelligence analysts, and software engineering etc.

At Insight, I was among the top performers and succesfully built a data product called ADability to analyze ads performance and viewability. I architected and implemented a scalable data pipeline for analyzing TB’s of ad interaction data. My existing industry experience and startup work ethic allowed me to excel during the fellowship and build a robust project. I was offered a job from CapitalOne in New York.

Sometimes I also speak about Data Engineering. Here’s one of the talk I gave:

Housing.com

Mumbai

I joined Housing as a Senior Product Engineer and moved on to become a product tech manager and then senior product tech manager leading a team of 7 engineers and 2 analysts. As a tech manager, I worked on end to end software cycle right from designing, development, test automation, performance benchmarking, Server provisioning and setup, CI/CD, health check and monitoring.

During my time at Housing, I built my team from scratch and mentored them for rapid feature development and deployment. I engineered an online remarketing engine like bidder, adserver, dynamic creative optimisation dashboard, data management platform. System was written in Python & GoLang and was supporting 50k/QPS on 5 server cluster. I used Python, Golang, Django, Redis, Postgres, MonetDB, Aerospike, AngularJS, Jquery, RabbitMQ etc during my time at Housing.

Learnt a lot about prioritizing and picking the battles which are important to fight, and then executing in the most efficient manner. I've also learnt more about the business impact of technology and automation, and how to build really useful products.

Jaypee University

Noida

A lot of the tech learnings I've had come from the time I've spent at JIIT. The place gave me a lot of freedom to explore various domains, and try my hands at a lot of diverse domains.

I was fortunate enough to publish a paper , and build some really cool side projects, and work on some things I'm not really proud of (looking back).
